Originally located across the road from where it stands today, the building was nearly lost to time—set to be bulldozed in the 1970s or '80s. Thankfully, a local family stepped in to save it.

What began as a humble storage building filled with antiques has grown into the charming store you see today. Over the years, the Cumberland Mountain General Store has changed hands a few times, each owner adding a new chapter to its story while preserving the rich heritage of this historic building.

Today, you’ll still find the original shelves, hardwood floors, and classic countertops—the same ones that have greeted generations of locals and travelers alike. We’ve modernized just enough to keep things convenient, but that timeless country charm still lives on in every detail.

From old-fashioned fudge and vintage treasures to handmade goods and local finds, our store is a blend of past and present. And we’re proud to now feature wonderful vendors who bring even more variety and creativity to our space—making each visit a chance to discover something new.
